Victorian Pill Testing Service Now Open
Drug Checking
Safe Using
21 Aug 2025
A free, legal and confidential pill testing service is now open at 95 Brunswick St, Fitzroy. The service will operate as an implementation trial until June 2026.
The service will be delivered by a consortium of trusted and experienced organisations: AIVL’s member organisation Harm Reduction Victoria alongside the Youth Support and Advocacy Service, The Loop Australia, with support from Melbourne Health, Metabolomics Australia (University of Melbourne) and Youth Projects.
The free, walk-in service is here to help everyone – no matter who you are or what your experience is. With non-judgemental health and harm reduction advice, people can better understand the risks and make informed choices.
When you arrive, you’ll need to provide a small sample, about 10mg – which is the size of a match head. Once the result is ready, you’ll have a private discussion with a member of the harm reduction team who will explain what was found and if you choose, will offer you harm reduction advice and answer any of your questions. It is a safe space for people to get help and information without judgement.
The service will operate three days a week, opening:
Thursday 12pm-4pm
Friday 3pm-7pm and
Saturday 1pm-7pm.
The site is central, well connected to public transport, and close to existing health and social support services. No one is breaking the law by operating, possessing, or using the pill testing service.
