Position Description:

The Hep C Prison & Transition to Community National Campaign Co-Coordinator will work alongside the Hep C Community National Campaign Co-Coordinator, to deliver the second iteration of the ‘It’s Your Right’ Campaign.

‘It’s Your Right’ is a national peer-led, health promotion campaign focused on hepatitis C. The aim of the campaign is to improve the health and wellbeing of people who use drugs that are affected by hepatitis C, in the community, in prison and for people transitioning from prison back to the community.

The Hep C Prison & Transition to Community National Campaign Co-Coordinator will provide national leadership and support to the prison and transition back to the community component of the campaign. You will coordinate and implement the campaign in collaboration with our state-based partners to ensure its smooth delivery and evaluation.

The role will be supervised and supported by The Director of Operations & Communications and will work alongside the Hep C Community National Campaign Co-Coordinator and in direct partnership with Eliminate Hepatitis C Australia (ECA). This role has been funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care.

The role requires someone who is collaborative, highly adaptable, and practical, and who can support the campaign’s scale-up and the capability of our state-based partners. This is a meaningful and exciting opportunity to join a community-controlled organisation of people who use drugs and work with our small and dynamic team of people with lived-living experience!

Selection Criteria:

  1. Clear understanding and demonstrated alignment with the AIVL mission and values.
  2. Lived-living experience of illicit drug use and incarceration and/or the ability to connect with a diversity of peers who use drugs illicitly would be considered an asset.
  3. A Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated leadership experience in a related field.
  4. High-level coordination capability and problem-solving skills.
  5. Passion for evidence-based peer-led harm reduction and health promotion.
  6. Outstanding communicator with great people skills.
  7. Strong project management skills and relevant experience managing projects, including preparing documentation, building relationships, and following organisational processes.
  8. Excellent organisation and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to plan, manage work priorities, and complete concurrent tasks to a high standard within strict deadlines.
  9. Excellent facilitation and consensus-building skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  10. Team player with a flexible, inclusive, adaptive, and can-do attitude.

Please send your resume and cover letter addressing the selection criteria and why, in your opinion, you would be the best candidate for the role to johng@aivl.org.au by Sunday, 11 May 2025 at midnight. AIVL is a safe space, and we wholeheartedly encourage people who use(d) drugs illicitly and with lived experience of incarceration and hepatitis C to apply. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse people, migrants, sex workers, LGBTQ+, PLHIV and people living with disability are also strongly encouraged to apply.
