Introducing PACE: A Creative Movement for Artists Who Use Drugs

Arts & Culture

24 Sep 2024

Are you a person who uses drugs in Australia? Do you express your creativity through painting, photography, installations, street art, poems, or songs? If so, PACE (Peer Arts Collective Exhibition) invites you to be part of a  project that celebrates creativity, connection, and the power of expression.

Supported by the Australian Injecting and Illicit Drug Users League (AIVL), PACE is a collective of creatives who use drugs, reaching out to fellow artists within our community to contribute to an upcoming exhibition book.

What Is PACE?

In Latin, “pace” means “in peace,” and in English, it refers to the speed at which one moves. PACE embodies both of these meanings—an art collective that promotes peace, understanding, and personal expression at whatever pace feels right for you. The project aims to break down stigma and shine a spotlight on the diverse talents within our community.

PACE is more than just an arts exhibition—it’s the beginning of a movement. Our project will culminate in an exhibition book published at the end of 2024, featuring a variety of artistic submissions from artists who use drugs.
