A core part of AIVL’s mission is to challenge the stigmatising attitudes and discriminatory behaviour that many people who use/have used illicit drugs experience as part of daily life. AIVL has recently developed an online training module that aims to improve communication between health professionals and people who use illicit drugs.
The Normal Day module features podcast conversations between people who use drugs and health professionals about the challenges that arise during clinical interactions. It also provides resources for health professionals to improve their practice with people who use drugs.
AIVL has partnered with the Australasian Society of HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM) and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) to deliver this training module to their respective memberships.
A short trailer of the Normal Day module can be found here.
