AIVL’s 2019–2021 Strategic Plan sets out our work for this period and how we will make progress in achieving our mission to advance the health and human rights of people who use/have used illicit drugs. Between 2019 and 2021, we will progress our mission by:

  • supporting our members to empower our communities/ people who use/ have used drugs to achieve an optimal state of health and human rights
  • increasing diversity of representation within our community by acknowledging sub-populations and being inclusive
  • speaking out and advocating for our communities when often this is challenging and comes at a personal cost
  • supporting our communities and our member organisations to speak and advocate for themselves
  • maintain the fight against the war on drugs and the stigma aimed at people who use illicit drugs
  • improving our engagement and influence with AIVL members, key decision makers and other relevant stakeholders
